I love a good hot dog.
No, that’s a lie. I don’t really like good hot dogs but I LOVE cheap hot dogs.
I don’t know what’s wrong with me either.
ANYHOW…
This recipe was born out of a desire to make something quick that all the kids would like. You can use any quality of hot dog that you desire but the cheap ones work especially well as their questionable taste is well-covered.
This is a great dish to serve at parties and potlucks, the kids are sure to love it!
Hint: This is also a great way to cover up stale buns!
Hot Dog Casserole (serves 4)
1 package of 8 hot dogs
1 package of 8 hot dog buns
your favorite hot dog toppingsPreheat the oven to 350.
Separate the buns, removing the tops from the bottoms. Break each top and bottom in half and line a baking dish with the pieces.
Cut each hot dog into thirds and place a hot dog piece on top of each bun piece. Yes, you’ll have some leftover bread. You can make it cheesy bread or cut some of the hot dogs up into smaller bits and top with those.
Top each hot dog with desired toppings, place in oven and bake for 30 minutes.
