Popcorn in a bag
What I am about to tell you blew my mind almost as much as when I learned you can cook bacon in the microwave.

You can make your own microwave popcorn.

*WOOSH!*

That was the sound of your mind being blown. I’ll give you a minute to take it all in.

The next time you see popcorn on sale, instead of grabbing the microwavable stuff grab the plain kernels (you get 6 times as much for the same price) & some lunch-size paper bags (about $1 for 100) instead.

DIY Microwave Popcorn

YOU NEED:
popcorn kernels (about 1/4 cup per person, up to 1 cup per bag)
oil (about 1 Tbsp per 1/4 cup of kernels)
paper bag
Stapler
Microwave

Step 1: Mix the kernels and oil in a bowl

Step 3: Fold the top of the bag down twice (leave plenty of room for popping) and staple shut.

Step 4: Place bag on a microwave-safe plate and microwave for about 2 minutes, for larger amounts you may have to add time. Keep it cooking until the popping slows to once every 4-5 seconds.

Step 5: Carefully remove the plate and allow the bag to cool before opening.

step 6: Top as desired and eat!
