I haven’t done a Food Waste Friday in a while and the fridge needed a quick cleaning so here we are.
This week it was the curse of the leftovers. Normally I’m pretty good about recycling leftovers into lunches or freezer soup but I dropped the ball this week.
This week we have:
– A serving of cheesy scalloped potatoes that I reallllllly wanted to eat but didn’t because of the calorie count. There wasn’t enough to split between the kids without an argument and sometimes I will sacrifice a bit of waste to prevent an argument.
– 1/3 of a serving of gnocchi in sauce. The gnocchi was great but I wasn’t crazy about the sauce (Barilla Spicy Marinara), it was just too canned-tomatoey tasting and I really dislike canned tomatoes.
– A big old container of the most disgusting vegetable soup I’ve ever made. I’m not sure how I managed to screw up veggie soup but the broth is really icky.
So, there you have it. I’m a big fat waster pants this week. How did you do?
Thanks for the heads up on Barilla Spicy Marinara. Sounds like that’s one I don’t need to try.
Half a cuke for me…never again…we are parting company!
I lost some spaghetti with sauce and half a can of pineapple. Both had gotten shoved to the back of the refrigerator and weren’t seen again.
