I love this time of year. I love red & green. I love the cooler weather (though it’s still in the 80s here pretty regularly, my body is all kinds of confused). I love the lights. I love the anticipation. I love spending time with family; and of course I LOVE the sweets.
I’ve scoured the web to find some of the cutest/sweetest/easiest holiday sweets out there, and I included my own recipe at the bottom. We’ll be making all of these in the next few weeks.

Meg’s Butterscotch Oatmeal Cookies
makes about 3 dozen small cookies
3/4 C butter, softened
3/4 C white sugar
3/4 C brown sugar
2 eggs
1 ⅓ cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
3 cups old fashioned oats
2 cups butterscotch chips
In a bowl combine butter, sugars and eggs and mix well.
In another bowl combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and oats; mix well.
Add the butter/sugar/egg mixture to the dry mixture.
Fold in the butterscotch chips.
Drop by spoonfuls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (trust me on that one) and bake at 375 for about 8 minutes. Remove from oven when they’re still a little undercooked, allow to cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then remove to a cool surface.
