It’s not often that I pick up a book on frugal living, especially frugal cooking, and find myself overly impressed. Most frugal living books are pretty repetitive. We all know to use leftovers and stock up when items are sale….but I was so charmed with Frugal & Delicious that I found myself reading the whole thing!
Frugal and Delicious: Secrets to Saving Thousands in the Kitchen
Frugal & Delicious (formerly titled The Frugal Gourmet) is an ebook available on Amazon in Kindle format. To read this book you will need an Amazon account and either a Kindle, a phone or tablet that can read Kindle books (Kindle is a free app!) or the Kindle Cloud reader (also free!)
The book is currently available for $2.99, however the price may change over time.
Frugal & Delicious doesn’t mess around, it gets right to the heart of the matter. A short read of just 8 chapter, this book doesn’t contain the usual repetitive tips & tricks you see in every single book about frugal living. No, this book concentrates on saving grocery dollars while providing your family with real, healthy food.
Frugal & Delicious doesn’t assume that you know how to cook, which makes it ideal for those just starting out and those new to the lifestyle. When you read this book you’ll be taken through many “mini” cooking lessons, where you will learn how to make your own pie crust (something I still haven’t tackled), delicious breakfast breads and truly gourmet dinners.
My favorite chapter in the book is the shortest, chapter 7. In “Lend a Hand” the author shares a story from her family’s past. This quaint story reminds us all that we can accomplish almost anything when we help others and allow ourselves to be helped.
I highly suggest this quick read to all who are venturing down the road of frugal living. While this book will provide the most help to those just starting the journey, even seasoned pros will enjoy this book.
